SOLO, MettaNEWS – Persis strengthens their defense by bringing in Cleylton Santos from Kedah Darul Aman FC. Persis officially strengthens their defense by signing foreign player Cleylton Santos from the top division football club in Malaysia, Kedah Darul Aman. The Brazilian passport holder will be an additional ammunition for Laskar Sambernyawa to face the second round of the 2024/2025 Liga 1 season.
While playing for his previous club, the center-back player appeared in 21 matches with Kedah in all Malaysian competitions. Throughout his professional career, standing at 190 cm tall, he has played in football competitions in Brazil, Portugal, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates. Playing for Laskar Sambernyawa will be his first experience in Indonesia.
Santos expressed his motivation when given the opportunity to join Persis,
“I feel happy, very happy with the opportunity to come here. I feel motivated and very excited. Choosing to join Persis was not a difficult choice, because I know how big Persis Solo is in Indonesia,” he said.
Responding to the highly competitive competition in Indonesia, Santos admitted being challenged to play in a tight competition like in Indonesia, and also wanting to prove his best abilities with Persis.
“Because all great players want to play in competitive leagues. Now, I have come here and I can see it up close, I have the opportunity to play in Liga 1, for me, that’s very good, because I can prove, and show everyone. I can show my best abilities here, and enjoy this opportunity,” he said.
Cleylton Santos also mentioned that he is aware of the long history and achievements of Persis. Therefore, he wants to give his best effort to achieve success with Laskar Sambernyawa.
“I know the history of Persis Solo. My dream and desire here are to continue that great history, and now I can be a part of this history. This club has a long and great history. I hope to give my best performance here, to honor the name of this club,” he stated.
The player’s full name, José Cleylton de Morais dos Santos, hopes for the support of loyal Laskar Sambernyawa fans to support their pride team.
“I want them to come and support Persis. The supporters, they can give their support and see us give our best on the field, and right now we need all their support, when we play at home, wherever we are, they come to support us,” he added.
